Antigua & Barbuda Launches 45th Independence Anniversary Celebrations

Antigua & Barbuda has officially launched celebrations for its 45th anniversary of Independence under the theme “Renaissance: Rooted in Pride, Bounded by Prosperity for All.”

The theme, logo and schedule of activities were unveiled Thursday evening at Government House, where Minister of Sports and Creative Industries Dwayne George said the anniversary should inspire national renewal while ensuring progress and prosperity reach all citizens.

Governor General Sir Rodney Williams reflected on the country’s journey since 1981, describing 45 as an age “old enough to have memories and young enough to have dreams.” He urged each generation to continue the work of nation-building as the country moves toward its golden jubilee.

The celebrations will include cultural, educational, sporting and community activities leading into Independence Day on November 1.
